Despite new technology, need for agent will always exist

Re: 'Broker proposes new real estate marketing platform' (Sept. 21)
Dear Editor:
In my opinion, this is nothing new. Multiple sites have attempted to do this, but the reality is these sites are only as good as the users.
Trulia, Zillow, Realtor.com and Homeseekers -- just to name a few -- are already out there. These people thought they would change the world of real estate, and it is simply not the case.
The sites I mentioned above have revolutionized the business as far as information dissemination; however, they only go so far. The information is only as good as the agent entering the information -- and because houses are unique commodities with varying locations, the need for a professional agent will always be there.
I get e-mails from these types of start-ups all the time. It seems this one just has a bigger marketing budget.
