Website launch - www.homepricehistory.com
Posted in Real Estate Website Reviews By Robert Reith, Wednesday, August 20, 2008.Hi all - I've just launched a new website and was hoping to get some feedback regarding it use.
www.homepricehistory.com is a website that allows users to create and maintain a record of property prices by providing a free, web based and easy to use property database. While I’m aware that some of this information is available for sale through some real estate agents and organisations, www.homepricehistory.com has a slightly different take, as all the content is user generated and most importantly, its free to use.
There are 3 obvious things that www.homepricehistory.com does:
1. Create your own property database - www.homepricehistory.com helps you as it provides a place where you can keep all the information you and other users have ever collected on real estate, in the one easy to access place. Regardless of if that information is a sale price, a weekly rental price or a miscellaneous comment, that information will be there forever for you to draw upon whenever you need. Not only will it be interesting in 20 years to see how much you paid rent or bought a house for, it will also help you establish a trend which could influence your purchasing in the years ahead.
2. Draw on historical data - While you may not be in the market now for a place to buy or rent, by keeping an eye on prices and keeping them recorded in www.homepricehistory.com, you’ll be far better equipped when you do.
3. Draw on other peoples research – one of the great advantages of www.homepricehistory.com is that while you can view the information you have entered, you can also view what other people have entered as well. This is critical because as Barbara Corcoran says "the more information you have, the more powerful you are as a buyer."
Would love to get any feedback.
Cheers
Rob

I hate to be a stickler here. But I've gone to the website, I've read your post, and I still don't understand what the website is supposed to do.

Hi Justin - thank you so much for your feedback. Its exactly what I'm after :)
I think its best explained by my own story:
When I was looking to buy my first house, I started to keep a list of properties in the area I wanted to buy. I would write notes on each property, how much they were asking and also how much I expected it to sell for. This was useful as it allowed me to get an understanding of the market.
However, when I lost the piece of paper I kept all this information on, I was basically back to square 1. So, when I looked for a place on the web that allowed me to keep all this research on, I found nothing like it. Thus, HomePriceHistory.com was born.
It really is as simple as that - giving users a simple place to keep all their property research.
Does this make it clearer?
