I'm in the process of uploading a video.

So far it is pretty intuitive. Here's some feedback -
1: You have no spot to list land and lots.
2: Include .5 in your bath choices - those half-baths are important.
3: As a real estate videographer I find that many Realtors don't have the time or inclination to upload themselves. Is there a way I can include my contact information and logo on your website to increase my visibility as well at that of my clients.

It's been almost 40 minutes and it's still uploading. I'm giving up. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

Hi David,
Thank you for your feedback and I'm really sorry that you have trouble uploading a video. Please make sure that the file size is not greater than 50MB. About you including your logo i'm sure we can discuss it, just drop me an email.
Thank you again and best of luck!

I've posted on your site before and just uploaded a new video. The upload process went quickly and easily. I agree that it would be good to add in half baths. Also, there was no option for a townhouse rather than a condo.

Your site is definitely part of my video marketing mix.

I always have the same questions with these sites:

1) How is the information kept up to date? Are all of the videos on the site current with current information? If it's not current, it's worthless information to buyers.
2) Are videos removed when properties are sold? If not, what's the point?
3) Is it up to the realtor to remove and/ or update these listings? If so, it will never, ever happen in this world. Never.
4) Is this site indexed AND RANKED by major search engines? Buyers search for real estate on the MLS and on search engines, such as Google. They don't search on sites like this, although they may find it through a search engine, where they ARE searching.
5) Why would a buyer come to a site to look for real estate VIDEOS? Buyers search for REAL ESTATE... and hopefully it has a video attached. But buyers want to see ALL 15,000 home available in Boston, not just the 3 with videos. This is why sites like this make me scratch my head. I don't understand the PURPOSE.
6) I see the site is free. NOTHING in the world is free. Bandwidth is not free. How does this site make money so it will be around in 1 or 2 years? From the 3 ads I see? I don't think that will sustain the bandwidth and a site like this. Are you planning on charging realtors to upload videos at some point in the future? If so, what will you be offering that dozens of other sites don't offer for free (at least at the present time?)

I'm (obviously) a big proponent in real estate video. However, I don't understand the business model of the vast majority of these types of sites. And a valid business model that has a plan to make MONEY is the only site that will be around in the future. Many sites like this have come and gone already, and I'm sure it's just the beginning.

You have to be able to monetize this type of site. YouTube, the BIGGEST video site, still is a big monetary drain on Google, and there is actually talk of killing it because THEY can't monetize it either!

Business is business. The best ideas in business will eventually fail if someone doesn't have a plan to make money. And with hundreds of free video sites all over the net, it's very hard right now to offer something compelling to get someone to pay for.

Sad, but true.

David,

I cringe every time I see Google Ads on a website. Maybe it's just me, but I think I've seen too many sites which really use a Google Ads 'parked' strategy with little quality content to offer.

It looks like your model is aimed at getting advertising on the site. That will be a tough challenge to attract enough attention to make your site profitable solely on advertising in an already very crowded real estate video space.

Hello Everyone and thank you for all your comments,
Deb, Thank you for your kind words and i also noticed that you removed your previous video, i guess the listing was sold? so that answers the question #3 posted by Fred (never say never my friend). Fred, I'm sorry but if people would think like you do I'm not sure if the world would be as it is now. I mean you wake up every morning and turning on your car, the web, light, coffee maker, getting on the airplane........(even youtube) without realizing that way before someone came up with all that, and if that some one would think the way you do, we would still be in the stone age.
Sad, but true.

Yes, David, I removed the previous video because the house sold!

David,

Don't dismiss Fred's comments. I think his point is spot on. Ultimately you will have to be profitable. In order for any real estate video or listing site to be successful it has to get product and viewers. If you solely rely on Realtors to post their videos, you will at best be one of several stops a buyer makes because only a percentage of listing offer any kind of motion tours (Photo or video)

If you can market your hosting and can offer higher quality playback than other sites as well as idx compliant playback options (see zipvo and Wellcommat) you may see Realtors use your site to host their videos which will, in turn, help drive business to your site.

As a videographer I upload a completed video to
Revver
AOL Video
YouTube
Google Video
Realtor.com
Veoh
Zipvo
DailyMotion
Craigs List
Wellcomemat
MySpace
Onestopview.com
Vidego
Metacafe

although Tubemogul take care of about half these postings in one push, the others are done one at a time and it takes time. I am currently looking at analytics to identify what sites give the most benefit in terms of hits and Search Engine placement.

In other words, I'm reexamining my distribution based on the benefits to the client. If i am going to add your service to my distribution i want to see the benefit to my clients - will it be seen by people who are looking for homes in Western North Carolina?

I wish you luck. By the way, will your site accept MP4 video?

David:

I only say what I say because:

1) I have been dealing with realtors for almost 12 years doing websites and internet marketing. I know how most of them think and how most of them work. If you rely on a realtor to change a listing or remove it, it WILL NOT HAPPEN. Yes, that one person may have done it, but trust me she's an exception. She also does her own vidoes, she does podcasts, she's TECH SAVVY.... which might comprise 1% of the real estate industry... if that.

Most realtors have a tough time figuring out how to send an attachment via email. They won't upload the video in the first place, and they most certainly won't maintain it. (If I didn't upload their videos FOR them, it would never happen.) I stake my life on it.

I send videos to realtors (who have PAID for them) for them to upload to the video portion of their Realtor.com enhanced listing (which I can't do without their password). 99% of them NEVER get uploaded. NEVER. These are videos that they PAID for, and videos for ACTIVE, CURRENT listings they (theoretically) are trying to sell. It NEVER happens. I wish this were not the case, but it is.

2) I have been in business for myself since I was 21 years old (32 years). I am a businessperson first and foremost, and that's the way I think. Sorry. You have to be a little smart about profitability. Every business venture MUST make money or they eventually will be gone, especially in this financial climate. Either your personal finances will run dry and/ or your venture capital money will disappear if they don't start seeing revenues. It would be nice to run a business because it's fun and you want to do good things in the world, but for most people, that's just not a reality. You MUST make a profit.

You asked for input.... !

I really like the sideshow on the header, looks pretty cool. The site is also clean and easy to read, I'd just add a bit more content on the homepage.
