Group emails
Posted in Inman News Feedback and Suggestions By Jay Thompson, Thursday, April 10, 2008.I manage the Real Estate Bloggers group, which is growing and at times quite active.
Currently the only way to receive emails when a comment is posted is to receive a separate email with each comment.
A group member suggested it would be nice if emails could be compiled into a "daily digest" so only one email comes each day. A good idea.
Even cooler would be an RSS feed for a group....

Agreed. Another option that could be done faster would be sending the emails from an address where nothing but comment emails come from. Then we can set rules on our email clients to sort, filter, or do whatever with the comment emails without affecting our other Inman emails.
Another option could be a sentinel prefix in the subject like [inman blog comment] so that the email clients could do the same thing as with the separate address.

I agree. Too many individual emails. Some consistent word in the subject so I can just sort the email or redirect it to its own mailbox folder would be very helpful. The problem I have with RSS feeds is that they are never the same as I change computers often. Imap email lets me work from anywhere, including my blackberry, always in synch.

And here I go, causing even more emails to be sent... ;)
Lori - if you use a web based RSS reader (ala Google Reader or Bloglines, and there are more) you won't have a problem with RSS feeds being different on different PC's.
And there are RSS readers available for the Blackberry.
Just something to think about...

Yes, I figured that was the case but I've got different feed readers on each computer so I'd have to redo them all (but one) and simply haven't had time! Thanks, though.
